Vintage Green Man Mask (SOLD)

£44.00
ENQUIRE

Handmade papier mache mask depicting the Green Man

(approx 230x160mm)

The Green Man is a forest god, representing the cycle of new growth that occurs every spring. The Green Man is most commonly depicted as a face made of, or completely surrounded by leaves (usually oak).

Discovered a few years ago in a jumble sale on the Isle of Wight, the previous owner thought the mask was made on the Isle of Wight in the late 1970s.

The mask does have the odd bit of surface wear and tear, and would benefit from light restoration, please study photographs.

If you have any questions about this piece, or would like to see any more photographs, or have any questions regarding delivery, please get in touch here.
