A 19th century glass Bell Jar or Smoke Bell, with glass hanging loop and wide folded rim.
(approx 170mm high, and 140mm at its widest)
Quite a rare item, the bell would have been used to trap the smoke from oil lamps. It was hung from the ceiling above the lamp, preventing the rising smoke from dispersing throughout the room.
A very beautiful piece of glass, with all the unique properties of an individually made, antique piece. Condition is very good.
