The Wayward Sisters (Victorian Ambrotype) SOLD

£26.00
ENQUIRE

Large ornate copper framed Ambrotype (1860s)

(110x143mm)

An ambrotype is a photographic process on glass introduced in the early 1850s.

Purchased as part of an auction lot on the Isle of Wight, this is a lovely example, and currently our largest. It does require light restoration, mainly the back of the glass has scratches which are clearly visible when held up to the light (please see photographs). However the image itself is in much better condition, so damage isn’t as apparent with a solid backing.

The names we have given to the ambrotypes are nicknames for identification purposes.

If you have any questions about this piece, or would like to see any more photographs, or have any questions regarding delivery, please get in touch here.
